IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT JOHN T. NICCOLLAI TUESDAY, DECEMBER 30, 2025

ACME CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS

Today, December 30, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., ACME Markets and Local 464A commenced negotiations in order to achieve a new Collective Bargaining Agreement.  The present contract expires on February 21, 2026.

The company was represented by Dan Dosenbach, Senior Vice President of Labor Relations, and Janet Perovic, Associate Relations Manager.  The Local 464A negotiating committee consisted of head spokesperson, President John T. Niccollai, Secretary-Treasurer Rich Whalen, Recorder John Niccollai, III, Staff Member Justin Ramos, Staff Member Carlos Tatte and committee members Rhamel Hall, Andrew Lehman, Chanel Jeter and Salvatore Marino.

The Union presented the company with a list of contract demands compiled from information submitted by the membership.  Although the company indicated that they would provide a more formal response to the union demands at the next meeting, they did express several very troubling innuendos to our positions:

  • The company stated emphatically that there must be member co-pay for healthcare in this contract;
  • The company is seeking to move away from a defined-benefit pension to a structured 401K plan; and
  • The company is seeking a competitive wage structure more in line with Aldi’s, Lidl and dollar stores as opposed to ShopRite, Stop and Shop and Kings Supermarkets.

It becomes crystal clear that we will not be able to amicably conclude these negotiations if the company is serious in their positions on medical, pension and wages.  We cannot co-pay our medical, gut our pension plan and work for dollar store wages.  Our strength is in the power of the membership and I would ask the membership to please let management know that we cannot agree to have our Collective Bargaining Agreement completely destroyed.

We anticipate that the company will present us with their official list of counterproposals at the next meeting scheduled for Tuesday, January 13, 2026.  Please stay strong, remain militant and communicate your feelings to management.
