IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT JOHN T. NICCOLLAI THURSDAY, JULY 11, 2024

STOP & SHOP TO CLOSE STORES IN OUR JURISDICTION - ALL THOSE MEMBERS DISPLACED WILL BE OFFERED JOBS AT OTHER LOCATIONS

President Niccollai reported that a regional meeting was held at our offices today with executives from Stop & Shop and Local Unions representing members in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and the other New England states.

As we know, Stop & Shop is a publicly traded company and, as such, cannot make public statements without first complying with notice to the government agencies that regulate their operations.  All those attending today’s meeting were notified that meetings will be held tomorrow morning to review and discuss those stores closing and the time and conditions of those store closings.  As previously stated, no one will be terminated and there will be no job losses for either full-time or part-time members. 

Local 464A Union delegates will be present tomorrow morning in the affected stores to discuss any concerns relating to the closings. Obviously, we will not, in all likelihood, have answers to every possible scenario but we will be equipped to discuss the basics and assure our brothers and sisters that the contract will be applied and you will be represented.

We want to promise all of our affected members that your Union will continue to work tirelessly to protect your outstanding jobs, benefits and emoluments.

Once the company has complied with proper notice to the appropriate government agencies, your Union will be permitted to discuss this matter in greater detail through additional postings and further discussions with Union staff members and our brothers and sisters.
