AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT JOHN T. NICCOLLAI – SATURDAY, AUGUST 1, 2020

STOP & SHOP DAILY HEALTH SCREENING FOR STORE EMPLOYEES BASED UPON

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK FOR OPERATING RETAIL BUSINESSES

President Niccollai reported today that under the guidelines adopted by the State of New York for operating retail stores a mandatory health screening must be performed each day before employees can begin work.

This screening shall consist of procedures such as a temperature check and a questionnaire asking the following:

1) Any Covid-19 symptoms in the past 14 days.

2) Any positive Covid-19 test in the past 14 days.

3) Any close or proximate contact with confirmed or suspected Covid-19 cases in the past 14 days.

This daily health screening is to be conducted on company time after the member punched in for work. In addition, the New York law does not require the member to sign his or her name, but since the process must be documented the members’ name should be printed or enumerated somewhere on the form.

We must be careful to observe social distancing and the wearing of a mask when we participate in daily health screening.

Since Stop & Shop is now demonstrating an obsession with safety concerns it is incumbent on us to make sure customers are also following the laws implemented for retail stores.

We must report shoppers without masks, those who fail to stay 6 feet away, and a violation of the new store occupancy limitations to the store manager immediately. If the manager does not correct the situation, the local and state authorities must be put on notice.

After all, it’s only proper that since we are no longer receiving “hazard pay” we must be extremely vigilant in preventing customers from posing a hazard to our health and safety.

WORK SAFELY- WORK SMARTLY
