As we all know today was the deadline to reach the threshold of separating 49 people from the Company under the Voluntary Layoff Program with Separation Pay. We failed to meet the threshold of 49 workers and that program is now terminated. I am pleased to announce that the Company has notified the Union that the reduction/layoff of 73 Full-time people will be placed on hold.

A quick update to inform all our ACME members that the Company and the Union did meet at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 12, 2017.   The meeting dealt almost exclusively with seniority issues.

For our members who came on board with ACME from A&P, Pathmark or any Related Banners, seniority from ACME and the preexisting Banner will be added together to determine seniority among that group.

As noted in our last communication, the Union and ACME Supermarkets, Inc. will be meeting Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. to continue to discuss seniority and staffing.

We will post additional information on our website and as well inform our Union Delegates as to the results, if any, of this meeting.

We ask our members to remain calm and tend to the task of servicing the customers and growing the business.

In order to reduce the tension between ACME and the Union and, further, in order to provide an environment more conducive to meaningful negotiations, we have removed yesterday’s notice from our website.

In the interim, all members should be aware that the Company has agreed not to go into the stores today and make any announcements concerning layoffs or reductions.  The Union and the Company have further agreed that we will continue to negotiate concerning this paramount issue of staffing.
