ACME CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE

President Niccollai reported that the Company and Union Negotiating Committees met again yesterday, in an attempt to reach a settlement with only four days left before the present agreement expires.  The two sides made very little progress.  The issues still causing serious problems and preventing a lack of movement are as follows:

1.        The Company continues to demand that both full-time and part-time members pay a substantial portion of their Health Care costs.

2.        The Company continues to press for unlimited flexibility in scheduling employees at any time during the morning and afternoon work period, thereby creating increased late nights.

3.        The Company is set on the elimination of our Defined Benefit Pension Plan and seeks to replace it with an inferior 401K Pension.

4.        The Company continues to refuse to offer a wage package anywhere close to the Industry Contract Settlement.

5.        The Company is demonstrating an unwillingness to change contract dates and language necessary to safeguard the rights of the membership.

As your President, I cannot allow my Brothers and Sisters from ACME to receive a package that does not meet Industry Standards and fails to recognize the outstanding knowledge and ability of the workforce.  Your ACME Contract Committee members are also unrelenting in their desire to get an agreement we truly have earned and deserve.

We will be having a “Make it or Break it” meeting on Friday, April 30, 2021.  Unless we get a proposal worthy of ratification by the membership, we will begin moving forward with our other option, and we all know what that means.

I want to assure all ACME members that the Union Contract Committee is truly seeking a settlement.  We will continue to put forward all our best efforts and expertise into the formulation of a new agreement that accommodates our needs and allows us to continue to work proudly and with dignity.

WORK SMARTLY – WORK SAFELY
