ACME CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!

We are pleased to report that we have achieved a tentative Contract Settlement with ACME Supermarkets, subject to approval by a ratification vote of the membership.  This Agreement exceeds our highest hopes and is even better than our Industry Contract.  The additional benefits in this Agreement will help us recoup losses suffered during the A&P Bankruptcy. The contract committee voted unanimously to approve this proposal.

The following highlights will serve as a synopsis of our achievements:

• No concessions. No givebacks.
• No co-pay medical benefits for both full time and part-time members for the 57-month term of the Agreement.
• Continuation of our non-contributory Defined Benefit Pension Plan for the term of the Agreement.
• Part-time members increase in Pension to $700 with 40 years of continuous service.
• An increase from 12 to 24 prescriptions per year for part-time members.
• No change to existing starting times.
• Wage compression protection language providing rates above the minimum wage based upon years of service continuing through the Agreement.
• Wage increases of up to $275.50 per week for full-time time clerks in progression over the term of the agreement.
• A $2.15 per hour wage increase for part-time members. Minimum wage increases over the term of the Agreement shall also continue.
• Wage increases of between $120.00 and $130.00 per week for employees not on progression over the term of the Agreement.
• 25% increase ($2.50) in Travel Pay from $10.00 to $12.50.
• Updating of antiquated contract time periods.
• One additional Personal Day for full-time and part-time employees after the third year of the contract.
• 50% increase ($5.00) Premium for Cheese Department and Receiver.
• This Agreement exceeds the Industry Contract in wages for both full-time and part-time members.

Your Union Delegates will be in the stores tomorrow with Ballot Boxes and Secret Ballots in order to conduct the ratification vote.  Again, we urge all members to vote YES in approving this monumental Agreement.

I wish to thank Secretary-Treasurer Whalen, Recorder Niccollai III, Assistant Contract Negotiator Justin Ramos and Committee Members Scott Fitzgerald, Joe Molinari, Lawrence P. Vitulli, Jr., and Linda Rezes for their invaluable assistance during these most difficult negotiations.  I also wish to thank the membership for their unwavering support.  A Contract with such lucrative terms, benefits and emoluments can only be achieved with the strongest of membership support.  Thank you for that support!
