STOP & SHOP LONG ISLAND NEGOTIATIONS 2017 UPDATE

Your Local Union Officers along with your negotiating committee met the Company representatives today (6/28/17) and concluded our third meeting. The Company has taken a firm position on several issues that we cannot accept and consider the basis for a STRIKE as follows:

As we all know today was the deadline to reach the threshold of separating 49 people from the Company under the Voluntary Layoff Program with Separation Pay. We failed to meet the threshold of 49 workers and that program is now terminated. I am pleased to announce that the Company has notified the Union that the reduction/layoff of 73 Full-time people will be placed on hold.

Your Union wishes to report that a meeting was held today between ACME, Local 464A and two other Local Unions in the Region also experiencing staffing issues.  The meeting lasted several hours and included input from our International.

Numerous options were discussed and all parties agreed that there would be a subsequent meeting on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 in an attempt to best resolve the problem.
