Welcome to UFCW Local 464A! We at your Local Union are pleased to serve you through the many features of this site as well as our daily work at our offices in Little Falls, NJ and Tarrytown, NY.

The membership of Local 464A is nearly 20,000 strong and growing in New Jersey, New York and a part of Pennsylvania. We represent men and women who work hard and display professionalism everyday at their jobs in all the major food chains. These chains include: A & P, Food Basics, Foodtown, Food Emporium, Grand Union, Gristede's, I.G.A., Key Foods, Kings, Pathmark, Shop Rite, Stop & Shop and Waldbaums. We also represent many other individuals in service related businesses. Our members enjoy excellent wages, outstanding pensions, and all-inclusive medical benefits.

I am proud to serve as President of Local 464A, an organization that truly strives to improve the lives of our members and their families. As we proceed deeper into the takeover of stores by new owners and we get closer to the end of the WARN Notice period for those stores still unsold, we are receiving additional questions from our membership concerning their future.  We will do our best in this article to answer those questions, and give all our members an understanding of our future actions, plans and anticipated fights.  If you still have unanswered concerns, contact Local 464A by email or phone.

The Rumor Mill is rampant again.  Every possible scenario is being presented as fact and, as usual with the Rumor Mill, very little is true.  We will do our best to try and sift through the most important information that is being disseminated.

Our matter concerning bumping and severance pay was brought to the attention of the Honorable Judge Robert D. Drain in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.  We are pleased to report that in total, almost 8,000 signatures were presented to the Court.  We thank our Brothers and Sisters for helping in a forceful presentation of our concerns.

As we sit with the new Employers buying our stores and we seek to reach a contract agreement, we posture to negotiate from a position of strength not weakness.  Obviously, management is attempting to make the best deal possible for themselves, and save as many dollars as possible in future operations.
