The membership of Local 464A is nearly 20,000 strong and growing in New Jersey, New York and a part of Pennsylvania. We represent men and women who work hard and display professionalism everyday at their jobs in all the major food chains. These chains include: A & P, Food Basics, Foodtown, Food Emporium, Grand Union, Gristede's, I.G.A., Key Foods, Kings, Pathmark, Shop Rite, Stop & Shop and Waldbaums. We also represent many other individuals in service related businesses. Our members enjoy excellent wages, outstanding pensions, and all-inclusive medical benefits.

Your Union has been informed of the Arbitrator’s Award in the matter involving Stop & Shop and the introduction of prepackaged meats.  In a word, we are “elated” with the decision which truly embraces the protections that we needed presently and going forward.

All documents and arguments from both the Union and the Company are now in the hands of the Arbitrator.  The Union truly left no stone unturned in protecting our future as Meat Department employees with a Company whose obvious intent is to sell exclusively prepackaged meats.

After five negotiating sessions and with only four days left before contract expiration, both the Company and the Union are working diligently to bring home a contract worthy of ratification. Unfortunately, the Company is still hung up on several issues which we define as NFW (for those who understand that great and for those who don’t its best left unexplained).
