TO ALL MEMBERS OF STOP & SHOP - LONG ISLAND FROM PRESIDENT JOHN T NICCOLLAI

A MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT JOHN T. NICCOLLAI - S&S LONG ISLAND NEGOTIATIONS - 7/11/2017

After a demanding fourth negotiating session between the committe and the company, we are still hung up on several issues which we view as strike issues. The Company is continuing to refuse to provide healthcare coverage for part-time employees. In addition, the Employer is seeking co-pay for the Medical coverage provided to the full-time workforce. The Company has also refused to move off of their position that Sunday should be a straight time for new hires and existing workers would have a frozen Sunday rate. In the area of Wage rates, the Company is seeking to place top rate caps on all full-time and part-time wages. During the course of this Agreement, minimum wage increases will occur, but the Company is refusing to grant raises in lieu of the fact that the minimum wage will increase for those presently below the minimum wage.

At this point, we have scheduled additional meetings with the Company for next week, but in all candor, unless there is movement on their part, we are without question, headed for a work stoppage.

Please be advised we are not seeking a strike and do not want a strike, but it would be manifestly unfair for our Brothers and Sisters in this bargaining unit to be forced to settle for less than what all our Brothers and Sisters have received.

We will continue to keep the membership informed.
